The starting point was two independent dwellings on top of each other on the ground floor and mezzanine of a modest, old apartment building between dividing walls in the heart of the Raval (Barcelona). Both dwellings were in an absolute state of neglect and disrepair. The client’s requirement was to concentrate the main living spaces […]
The commission requires the construction of a hut to enjoy free time. The project proposes to review an often practice associated to Do It Yourself construction not very sensitive to the environment, which continues using elements of sporadic occupation in more permanent occupations, such as those that occur today in the camps designed for weekend […]
¿Aprender a dibujar es aprender a mirar?, ¿Qué papel juega la “estrategia” a la hora de pensar cómo representar un proyecto?, ¿Debe representarse, por lo tanto, con los mismos criterios la arquitectura efímera y la convencional?

The Haus am Buddenturm is located in the historic city centre of Münster. The street presents three building lines with regard to the plot: the two building lines along the row of houses that border the plot on the east/west and the third that forms the plot boundary. These alignments are perceptible on the building […]
The object Blumenegg Pavillon is an event space in the midst of the remaining walls of the ruins of Blumenegg Castle. It is to be run by an association as a cultural and leisure centre and used by the surrounding region.
The building, with a floor space of 60 square metres, is intended to accommodate various events and consists of a main room and a small kitchen.
Above the inserted wood volume there is an accessible roof terrace which is supported by the primary steel construction. The new building is positioned on the property in such a way that it is embedded as unobtrusively as possible in the existing ruins.
IF_DO has completed a new sixth form centre at St Teresa’s School, an independent girls’ school in Effingham.
The building comprises two discrete blocks: the teaching block – the larger of the two – contains the classrooms, offices, common room and study room; and a separate block houses the lecture theatre, which is distinct from the other facilities to encourage access to all students.
The two blocks are joined by a covered link which acts as the main entry point and circulation space, and provides a clear visual connection from the Sixth Form Quad to the woodland beyond.
The starting point for the design of Haus Birne are three old high trunk pear trees and the client’s wish to have a relationship between the living space and the treetops. A simple and cheap wooden construction with a spruce façade without a cellar or lift was chosen. A compact living room is extended with a terrace or balcony facing south and west.
The new Bath in the historic center of Samedan is situated directly on the back of the baroque church. Despite this prominent placement it leaves the leading role on the village square to the church. At the same time it tries to show the significance of a public bath in the historic context of Samedan. The scale as well as the precisely chosen materials integrates the new building perfectly into the existing situation. At the same time the building maintains character and independence.
