A project for the renovation of ground floor premises with the minimum possible input of resources, and with very specific and exacting functional requirements, given the programme it hosts, a social services centre.
The project defines two zones: an area for attention to the users and an internal work area. Access is by way of a generous-sized waiting room surrounded by interview rooms and the information desk. The work area has restricted entry from the waiting room at one end and a direct exit to the street at the other.
The structuring of the spaces avoids corridors, by means of a linked sequence of main spaces and vestibules. All of the service spaces have access from the halls, thus freeing up the walls of the principal rooms.
The walls of the three main spaces and the vestibules that connect them have a differentiated treatment, with screens composed of slats and panels of pine wood, which bestow a feeling of warmth and comfort on spaces whose occupation tends to be uncomfortable, given their social function.
